elephant journal Tea-Off ~ Bija, Yogi Tea, Numi.

Bija! > via Marisa Ware
The beauty of tea is not just in the taste, but in the benefits for my health. Bija Healing Teas are inspired by Chinese, Tibetan, Ayurvedic and Native American traditions. Using mostly organic fair-trade ingredients, Bija plus snowy day plus movie equals winter the way it’s meant to be. The individual packages are not compostable nor recyclable; the tea bags however, are the stuff compost bins dream of.

Yogi! > via Alex King
After an intense yoga session (okay, level one), my tried and trusted source for recovery is hot tea. Yogi Tea (founded by Yogi Bhajan, this ain’t just marketing) is full of organic herbal spices mixed according to the medicine of Ayurveda-whatever that is. In any case, its awesome herbs helped me make it through a marathon video-editing session. For a mellow wintery afternoon, check out the Meditation tea.

Numi! > via Rose Taylor
Numi has a great selection, interesting blends, enticing aromas, attractive packaging: but what makes them stand out from other high-end teas?

> Leaves, herbs or fruit with no flavor additives.

> A non-toxic process which produces full leaf grade decaf organic tea.

> Of the five types of ingredients, all are organic and four are also Fair Trade.

> Packaging uses soy ink on 100% recycled paper with 85% post-consumer waste. I’ll drink to that!
