Book review: Whispers from Eternity (Paramahansa Yogananda)

This collection of prayers and invocations is reminiscent of Khalil Gibran’s The Prophet.

Yogananda, author of Autobiography of a Yogi, spent his lifetime uniting Christian devotion with the philosophy and personal spiritual experience of yoga.   This book is filled not only with invocations and prayers to God, but also to Buddha, Mohammad, Jesus, and Krishna, making this book available to nearly all spiritual practitioners.  Yogananda encourages the reader to meditate on his prayers and not just say them in order fully experience his works with the goal of communicating with the Divine on a personal and intimate level. The prayers flow beautifully, and Yogananda is a master of spiritual imagery and writing. Anyone interested in devotional poetry will be proud to have this book in their collection.  Available from the Self-Realization Fellowship and your local, independent bookseller.
