According to this article on The Huffington Post (where our esteemed editor now has his own column), President-elect Obama continues to demonstrate his savvy of the importance of connecting with people, especially youth, and using the internet to his advantage. Starting this Saturday (tomorrow!), he will be posting his digital version of fireside chats: a weekly address on YouTube. This should lend a whole new level of transparency to a White House that for the past eight years has been shrouded in far too much shadow. It also demonstrates his continued commitment to make the government “of the people, by the people, and for the people” as he mentioned in his acceptance speech. His grasp of the potential and power of the internet and its ability to connect with the electorate can also be found at his new website, which gives the average person the opportunity to “sound off” and give their views and advice on his administration. This could mark a true turning point in American politics, one where the power of the people can and will truly be felt in the halls of power.
