Boulder Insider’s Guide to This Year’s Fringe Festival Performances.

~via Jodee Spalding

By now you’ve hopefully either perused the online Boulder International Fringe Festival program, or picked one up in person at a local business. It’s all good stuff, but the extensive schedule may leave you wondering how you’ll ever choose what shows to see. Ahhh—worry not, young Grasshopper, the Boulder Fringe Guru is here to help.

There are three ways to figure out which shows are knocking it out of the park at this year’s festival:

1. Best of all, visit the Rate the Shows section of the Boulder Fringe website to read audience reviews of each performance. A great way to get the dope on which shows are worth your time, which are best for family, for date night…

2. Come to the nightly Boulder Fringe talk show, C.R.A.B. (Constantly Risking Absurdity Baby), to decide for yourself as artists give a live snapshot of their show. (every night through August 22 at the Scotch Corner Pub, 1800 Broadway St, on the corner of Walnut & Broadway in Boulder)

3. Drop in to the Laughing Goat Coffee House (1709 Pearl St.), this year’s Fringe Central, for a coffee and a chat. There are usually lots of festival-goers lounging about, most of whom aren’t shy and would love to chat about the shows.

The Guru, also a lover of the Fringe, wouldn’t dare be biased, but would instead leave you with this complex bit of insider wisdom: “Good Girls Don’t” just act “Like a Virgin” — especially when what they fear is the “Requiem” sung.

Now, be good and go fringe… or at least go fringe.
