Book Review: Natural Wakefulness: Discovering the Wisdom We Are Born With (Gaylon Ferguson)

In his first book, Naropa University professor and meditation instructor Gaylon Ferguson explores meditation not from the standpoint as a path towards enlightenment per se, but as a path towards simply waking up, towards claiming our innate sense of who we are.

Not just another book on meditation, Ferguson includes guided meditations as well as “question and answer sessions” drawn from actual sessions with his students that address some of the most common questions of meditation practitioners, ranging from fitting meditation in to our busy daily lives to posture to the all too common restless mind that just won’t settle down to meditate. Written in a warm, almost conversational style, Natural Wakefulness has something to offer the novice and experience practitioner alike.
