Rewarding volunteers with free beer, two Denver businesses take to the streets to clean-up areas neglected by the city

DENVER, March 28, 2011 – Today, the Rackhouse Pub and Dry Dock Brewery announced a community service effort to revamp a stretch of sidewalk largely ignored by the city of Denver. Volunteers will be rewarded with free beer, provided by Dry Dock Brewery. Sign-up for the event begins today and runs through April 25th.

The Intersection In Question

Being a partner in the community was always a goal of Chris Rippe‘s when he opened the Rackhouse, one of Denver’s best gastro pubs. In that spirit, The Rackhouse Pub is adopting a heavily trafficked sidewalk stretch which runs parallel to the intersection of Santa Fe and Alameda.

While Rippe is serious about the event, they also wanted to make it enjoyable and appealing for potential volunteers, so participants will be rewarded with a seat on a charter bus and all the beer they can drink.

“I am an avid light rail traveler and the City of Denver has not cleaned up this stretch of sidewalk in our neighborhood in the 18 months we’ve been open,” said Rippe. “The solution was obvious, and with the guys down at Dry Dock it is a fun way to reward the volunteers who will help enhance our community.”

The cleaning effort begins and 10am sharp on April 10th, with the beer bus leaving at noon for Dry Dock, and returning at 5pm. Only 35 seats are available on the beer bus, and sign-up must be done in person at the Rackhouse Pub, located at 208 South Kalamath St.

Those who are not able to join the beer bus are also welcome to join the clean-up effort at the site. “I don’t think we’ll have any problem filling this bus. Good karma and good beer are a natural fit,” said Rackhouse Pub Chef /Co-founder Jayson Reynolds.

About Rackhouse Pub

Nestled in the bosom of Stranahan’s Colorado Whiskey Distillery, the Rackhouse Pub tries to be as hardcore Colorado as our neighbors. Here you’ll find a hand-picked selection of Colorado beers, micro-distilled spirits, soda, meats, cheeses and local produce (when available).

Our menu brings pub food to a completely different level with creative spins on old classics, as well as new creations that accentuate our unique bar selections. The Rackhouse Pub’s ”steampunk“ décor is created from used Stranahan’s barrels and the cedar beams from the original Stranahan’s rackhouse. Come hungry!
