Vitamin Angels “League of Angels” at Angels Field: Natural Products Expo West.

Who’s elephant’s favorite, most inspiring, most essential, for-real non-profit ever? Vitamin Angels! Why? 24,500,000 million children were helped last year alone—and this year they’re aiming for way more.

Waylon Lewis and Lindsey Block of elephant journal were honored to attend and support Vitamin Angels League of Angels event last Thursday night at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California—a kick-off event to this year’s Natural Products ExpoWest.

Over 300 executives from the natural products and dietary supplements came together on March 10th at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California to ‘step up to the plate’ in the fight against malnutrition and vitamin deficiency at Vitamin Angels’ inaugural ‘League of Angels’ event.

Deemed ‘the kick off event of Expo West,’ the cocktail event held in the VIP Diamond Club of Angel Stadium featured special sports celebrity appearances by Angels’ Alumni Player Jay Johnstone, and former NFL All-Pro player for the Vikings Robert “Griff” Griffith. Attendees were treated to a special performance by the band ‘Thick as Thieves’ (now embarking on a major nationwide tour), baseball themed giveaways and had their photos featured on the stadium Jumbo-tron.

Vitamin Angels’ Founder, Howard Schiffer, related the personal stories of several of the children who have been reached with life-saving nutrients. Betsy Rono, who helps to coordinate a prenatal vitamin project throughout the Western part of Kenya, flew in for the event and shared how Vitamin Angels’ project was making a difference in the lives of over 30,000 women. “Distribution of prenatal vitamins has… resulted in the community owning the responsibility of their health and well being. Provision of prenatal vitamins to poor pregnant mothers has put a smile back on their faces…Their babies are all smiles! They are empowered!” Attendees also heard from a special guest, 12-year old Kalista who spoke about her hard work fundraising hundreds of dollars for Vitamin Angels by doing service projects throughout her neighborhood.

Vitamin Angels League of Angels would not be possible without the generous support of our sponsors below.

If you missed the event this year, make sure to mark your calendar for next year’s event on March 8th. It’s sure to be another home run!
