{Review} Zavella Clothing Line. ~ Lindsay McClure

I don’t do itchy/scratchy/tight.

I don’t wear heels nonetheless am ever caught in a pencil skirt. I love my yoga clothes. When I was offered the opportunity to review a clothing line that is primarily directed towards the yoga community, I was more than willing. From lululemon to forever21, yoga pants and clothes are taking over the industry. It’s no doubt because comfort and versatile is in. I went into the review with these two qualities in mind.

To say the least, Zavella is all that and more.

When I opened the package I was delighted to see the Swirl Bamboo Hoodie and Vintage Washed Bamboo V-Neck T-shirt. The swirl pattern is beautiful and designed by Sarah Iskandani, owner and designer of Zavella.

Zavella is based in Denver and has been a line since May 2009. Sarah personally hand makes each piece, a confirmation of her passion and commitment to excellence. The fabric is extremely soft, making it easy to wear after a Vinyasa 2 class. It’s safe to say both luxury and athleticism can be achieved through Zavella.

I asked Sarah a few questions, here is what she had to say.

ele:  What inspired the line? Your own yoga practice?

I was inspired to create the line when I saw a need in the market. I wanted to create a versatile, eco-friendly, socially conscious clothing line that is made for women by women. My goal is to make a difference in women’s lives and in the communities that surround us. I knew that women are busy and need things to make life easier.  In my opinion, life is easier when you don’t have to worry about what you are going to wear from the yoga studio to lunch with friends or back to the office, this can be a relief for many women. For example, you can wear the hoodie to the yoga studio with yoga pants and then can put some cute boots on and a scarf and you are ready to go out to lunch, run errands.

ele: What eco/environmental practices are used while making this line?

We use only eco-friendly fabrics 70% Viscose from Bamboo and 30% Organic Cotton. We don’t import any of our clothing/fabric/materials from overseas. I believe this reduces our impact on the environment.

We are currently looking for additional ways to positively impact the environment in everything we do at Zavella from our paper products to the inks we use.

ele: What would you want ideal customers to say about your clothes?

They are super cute!

ele: Would you say your items can go from the studio to lunch, etc?

Yes, every item we custom-craft is designed to be versatile. For example, many of our customers will use our tunic/dresses for sleepwear, swimsuit cover-up, pop some heals on and wear them out on the town, etc.

ele: Give me three words that describe the line as a whole!

Fashion-focused, eco-conscious, customer-driven — It’s not really three words but I think it sums up what we are doing.

I would recommend Zavella to any woman. The relaxed fit of the tops is not suffocating but extremely moldable and breathable.

These eco-friendly yoga clothes took me to class, lunch and back again. Beautiful pieces made with integrity. Zavella—check them out!
