Day 6: The Nickel Thing….Again.

I did “the nickel thing” during the last challenge but it is worth repeating.

People have asked why I am doing 24 days of letting go, instead of spending a weekend, dumping the junk, and moving on.

Well, it’s because of nickels.  A friend told me this, years ago, and it has stayed with and worked for me.

Collect nickels.  Don’t spend them, but as you go about your day see where you can acquire them.  Giving the extra 2 pennies in the coffee shop so your change includes a nickel.  Instead of dropping all the change into the tip jar pull out the nickel. Your energy surrounding money will gradually transform.

Once or twice a week, empty out your bag and put all the nickels into a pretty jar (according to Feng Shui; purple, green and gold are the colors that enhance money)

It seems silly, but the acquisition of the nickels, the feeling of abundance, and the ritual of saving will change your energetic attitude about money.  This small coin, that seemed insignificant, even worthless now invokes attention and respect.

Another meaningful observance surrounding money,is to make a list of five or ten things that you have in abundance in your life right after paying your bills.  This action sends my money out into the world with a feeling of gratitude instead of lack.

If we do something for a day or two, it is just an action. If we do something for 24 days, it becomes engrained in our being.  24 days without spending money on anything unnecessary, releasing the past, and making space for dreams.

24 days changes the way you move through the world.  It urges us toward consciousness and uncovers our highest selves.
