Gay Rights Victory in Washington State.

Banana Leaf

That’s right, same-sex couples will now be able to tie the knot in the northwestern state.

As of today, Washington State is the 7th state to legalize same-sex marriage. Governor Chrisine Gregoire signed a bill that will make gay marriage legal starting June 7th.

A large opposition to the bill exists and is working to repeal it before the law goes into affect. By signing this bill, Washington is taking a step to ensure a more equal society. As an avid supporter for gay rights this makes me proud to call Washington my home state.

Where does your state stand on gay marriage?
