If You See Something, Compose Something. ~ Ron Sweet

The Story Behind a Song.

The above song and video were a labor of love to support the movement to shift power from a very few immense corporations and wealthy individuals back to the majority of U.S. citizens, as true democracy calls for:

Saturday night I was headed into Boston
Wheels on a road at dusk down a hill.
Parked my car at the Alewife Station
And wound my way down to the token man’s till.
Dropped my coin in and I headed to the platform
To wait for wail of the Red Line train.
A poster on the far side wall of the tunnel called,
Pleading with an urgent 9/11 refrain:

If you see something, say something.
Peace means sometimes you’ve got to speak up.
If you see something, say something.
Raise up your voice for the country you love.
If you see something, say something.
Peace means sometimes you’ve got to speak up.
If you see something, say something…

I picked up a copy of the Metro in the train car
And followed the tracks where the headlines ran,
“The priests of gold are burning the American Dream
On their altar like a sacrificial lamb.”
Greed is a fire that burns without compassion,
Keeps on burning ‘till there’s nothing left. You know,
If it’s too big to fail, get out the hoses.
‘Til love can drive us, keep the fire controlled.

If you see something, say something.
Peace means sometimes you’ve got to stand up.
If you see something, say something.
Just bearing witness is not good enough.
If you see something, say something.
Peace means sometimes you’ve got to speak up.
If you see something, say something…

Time to repeal the Corporate Occupation
The law calls them human, but they just can’t feel,
Closing their eyes to the human implications,
The far-reaching ripples that their labors conceal.
Open your eyes to the dream that we’ve been having
Of crimson tracks and a runaway train.
A mirror on the midnight wall makes a troubled call,
Pleading with an urgent line of heaven’s refrain:

If you see something, say something.
Peace means sometimes you’ve got to wake up.
If you see something, say something.
The wheels are turning and we’re not giving up.
If you see something, say something.
Peace means sometimes you’ve got to speak up.
If you see something, say something…

If you see something, say something…
If you see something, say something…
If you see something, say something…
If you see something
