The Humanity of Being a Yogi.
What do I mean by pure?
Free from alcohol.
Abstaining from sex.
Vegan.
Eating organic.
Never eating junk food.
Supremely health conscious.
Always happy.
Never depressed.
Never having outbursts.
Never speaking poorly of others or swearing.
Never partying.
Never making a mistake.
But the truth is that I am young.
And, I do enjoy wine and going out with friends.
Sometimes I like to get tipsy.
Sometimes I like to get drunk.
I am only human.
I will get angry and be mean to people sometimes.
I do fall into deep depressions at times.
I feel lonely, sad, frustrated… I am only human!
I swear.
I judge.
I like to eat too much sometimes, especially sweets.
The fact is, I went down the being over conscious of what I was putting in my body route, and that resulted in anorexia.
I went the trying to be a saint route and found that I encountered anger issues, having sudden outbursts toward myself and others.
I tried abstaining from junk food… only to overeat.
I tired abstaining from alcohol… only to drink more and party harder.
Yoga teaches us not to deprive ourselves of the joyful wonders on this earth.
No!
Yoga teaches us awareness of our bodies, minds, and souls.
It teaches us the power of intention.
It teaches us balance.
It teaches us to love ourselves just the way we are.
It teaches us faith and compassion.
Yoga teaches us to be here in this present moment and to revel in the abundance that is here all around us.
It teaches us to see things from others’ perspectives.
It teaches us to not be afraid to feel our emotions.
It teaches us to love, not fear.
It teaches us that being human is divine.
The greatest teachers are those who experience life!
All I can do is grow, each day using the power of introspection to gain awareness and insight of myself, others, and the universe.
This is all we all can do.
And this is all that we have to do.
Enjoy.
Don’t worry about being perfect.
Just be human.
Let yourself learn and grow.
