A Son’s Amazing Gift to His Mom. ~ Terri Tremblett {Video}

“It doesn’t matter how long you’re gone, family is family—that’s the kind of relationship we have.”

Meet Aba Atlas, a 23-year-old Canadian man whose recent You Tube video has received almost two million hits in just over one week.

Aba’s mother, who he declines to name, moved to Canada from Eritrea and worked as a housekeeper to support her five children.

Aba had been away and out of contact with his family for over two years when he arrived back home, suitcases in hand, on his mother’s doorstep. Instead of asking him why he hadn’t called, she asked him what he wanted for supper.

It turns out that Aba had saved his entry-level military salary for more than two years so that he could present it to his mother on his birthday—enough to pay the balance of her mortgage.

“I want to celebrate my life by celebrating the woman who gave me life,” he said.

Fortunately for us (and for everyone around the world who has seen it) he videotaped the entire thing…almost…

Terri Tremblett is a freelance writer and editor who also works in finance and dabbles in various artistic pursuits. She is equally at home walking the beach or digging in the dirt but has not yet mastered the art of walking by a book store without going in. Her education did not end when she finished university, as her life regularly proves. She can sometimes be found behind her camera, often taking pictures of her kids, which they will thank her for some day.
