Believe You Can Or Can’t—Either Way You’re Right!

If there’s one thing that I know for sure, it’s that whether you believe you can or you can’t, you’re right.

Regardless of the hand life’s dealt you, regardless of the body you were gifted, your emotional composition, regardless of the tragedy, the heartbreak and the hardship you’ve experienced, regardless of the habits you’ve formed, the relationships you have or haven’t had, regardless of your disappointments, your current self-beliefs or who you ended up with as parents, you have unlimited power and boundless potential to become and to achieve anything you want, anything.

The biggest hurdle in your pathway towards becoming whatever it is, whoever it is you want, is your belief otherwise. Your success isn’t solely dependent on your talent, the qualities you were born with, or the ones you worked hard to cultivate; its unfolding is just as much dependent, if not more so, on your level of self-belief and the belief in the fact that you have the potential to change.

If you’re prepared to take action towards becoming the manifestation of your dreams, and if you believe, truly believe you can, then eventually, you will.

If you believe that you can pass the BAR exam and become a lawyer, than you’ll take that belief and turn it into action and study and prepare and align with that fate, because you believed it possible. If you thought failure was unavoidable, if you believed you simply weren’t enough to achieve that goal, then you most definitely wouldn’t be studying, you wouldn’t be wasting your time trying to become something that you just knew you weren’t enough for. If you believe you can, your right, and if you believe you can’t, you’re right too.

If you have temper issues, or depression issues, if you have eating issues, or control issues, even if you have an entire manila envelope from 12 different psychiatrists listing all your resident types of issues, you can still change who you are and how you live your life if you believe you can.

Regardless of how many times you’ve exploded, how many nights you had too much to drink, regardless of how many times you wished you reacted better, wished you were calmer, or more confident, more authentic, or less guarded, you have the potential to change. You have the potential to be better, to be happier, to be more expansive, to be brighter, to be more of who it is you’d like to be, but you have to believe that change is possible.

Your potential as a human being is unconditional, unrestricted, and uncapped. There is no limit, aside from the ones you set yourself, as to who or what you can become. There is no lid on being grateful, no cap on kindness, no limit to how well-studied, well-spoken, how loved-up, or wholehearted you can be. There is nothing holding you back from becoming a doctor, an aid worker, a full-time artist, a landscape gardener, or an architect; nothing holding you back from becoming practiced at meditation, or from running a marathon, from loosing that weight, from being a calm person, or from becoming a great chef… nothing holding you back but you.

Journeys towards big goals can be daunting, your arrival at times, may feel unlikely, but believe anyway, keep going anyway. You are enough to become whatever it is you’re seeking. You have the patience, you have the time, you have the intelligence and the drive and the dedication, you just have to tap into it. It’s there within you, even if you haven’t channeled it before, all of it, every quality you wish you could embody, is there, ready for you to connect to and become.

You can be whatever it is you want, you just have to decide what that is, align with it, and believe in your potential for transformation, believe in yourself.

Because, whether you believe you can or you can’t, you’re totally right!
