The transcendental power of pop: “Cowboy covers “I Will Always Love You”, and absolutely kills it.” (video)

I hope life treats you kind.

I’m no fan of pop music. I don’t know if that’s Katy Perry or Taylor Swift singing what, or who went out with whom. I don’t like the sound of programed drum beats or manufactured emotion.

But once in awhile, a pop song transcends the medium. Like Michael Jackson’s Billie Jean (etc), or…Whitney Houston’s “I will always love you,” the song rises into a sort of temporary national anthem.

And here’s an effing cover of the latter than brings it back down to earth. Here’s a diamond in the rough that is youtube. Here’s to all the mommas out there:

Dayum: I love to hear a harp wailed on:

Update: It was Dolly’s song, first!
