Why Write. ~ Jennifer Moore {Poem}

shadow lady walking night dark woman

To release

Things we no longer need to carry

Our broken bones

People we have loved

And lost

We rest in the emptiness after exhale

Floating suspended in the now

To connect

Ourselves to others

Thoughts to actions

One moment to the next

We send out a light over the Sea

Seeking ships in the deep darkness

Hoping for lights to blink in reply

To be felt

We leave a record

Scratches in the sand

Words shot out without warning

Wars are waged for reasons unspoken

We are the peacemakers

Protestors

To pause

Take a breath

We are always running

Gasping for air

Collecting and gathering

Building walls only we will have to climb

We are the watchers

To not die

We stand at the threshold

Quick breaths and sweat

We doubt, we turn to run

We stomp to be brave again

Tears stream down our cheeks

Then in the darkness

Shh…You are not alone
Open the door and step into the light
This Is Only One Room
