Imagine the Band: Lennon & McCartney Mashup. {Video}

“I believe in everything until it’s disproved. So I believe in fairies, the myths, dragons. It all exists, even if it’s in your mind. Who’s to say that dreams and nightmares aren’t as real as the here and now?” ~ John Lennon

Musically speaking, duos don’t get more famous than Lennon/McCartney, the masters behind most of our favourite Beatles songs (I personally can’t imagine my life without A Day in the Life and Across the Universe, but naming just two is more or less absurd).

The video below makes new, beautiful music from the solo efforts of post-Beatles John and Paul. Lennon released the iconic “Imagine” as part of the album of the same name in 1971, and Paul released what is probably his most famous Wings song, “Band on the Run”, two years later.

Here, “Imagine”, which has been slightly sped up, is melded to a more mellow version of “Band on the Run”.

Enter “Imagine the Band”: I’m not sure what the creators of the original songs would have to say about this, but it’s undeniable that something nostalgic, yearning and beautiful is going on here.

And here are the original songs, at their original speeds:

 “I used to think that anyone doing anything weird was weird. I suddenly realized that anyone doing anything weird wasn’t weird at all and it was the people saying they were weird that were weird.”  ~ Paul McCartney
