An Apology Note I’d Never Write. ~ Danielle Waldman

“He who trims himself to suit everyone will soon whittle himself away.” ~ Raymond Hull

Dear Judgement,

I know you don’t agree with the way that I live my life and I’m sorry for that.

I’m sorry that I believe there is so much in this world to be seen and that excites me the most.

I’m sorry that I don’t go to church and that I believe in meditation and astrology.

I’m sorry that my friends aren’t “all-American”and that they are quirky, beautiful souls who have become my rock.

I’m sorry that I love to feel the warmth of the sun on my skin while music is flowing through my ears.

I’m sorry that I walk around barefoot and hate wearing high heels.

I’m sorry that I don’t own a suit and that my wardrobe consists of dresses that I bought in foreign markets.

I’m sorry that I decided to move over-seas to see how a different culture lived.

I’m sorry that sometimes I feel homesick.

I’m sorry that I have changed jobs countless times since college.

I’m sorry that I want to drive across the country and live somewhere new.

I’m sorry that I’ve had my heart broken many times and probably will again.

I’m sorry that I feel everything and allow myself to be open in this life.

I’m sorry for aspiring to live a simple life and not caring about materialism.

I’m sorry that I want to help people.

I’m sorry that one day I will find a man who is like-minded and shares the same values as me.

I’m sorry that I’m 27 and don’t have any money. My money is spent towards life experiences.

I’m sorry that you think I’m lost and don’t know what I want out of life.

I’m sorry that I don’t feel empty and I’m so thankful for what I have.

Most importantly, I’m sorry for living a life that is mine. A life that is unconventional. And I’m sorry that you don’t understand me.

Love always,

A Happy Wanderer
