Music to Mend a Broken Heart.

Wikimedia Commons

It’s the age-old story of raw heartbreak.

Being broken hearted is a perfectly normal part of the human condition.

But it hurts.

A lot.

Sometimes more than we can bear.

When we’re brokenhearted wouldn’t it be nice to have a break from the pain, if only for five minutes?

Then we can turn our day around to something more positive and productive.

Here’s how to take a break from heartache.

Simply listen to Led Zeppelin.

What!?

Led Zeppelin’s rhythm section uses a stopped anapestic beat. (Two short beats, a long beat then a pause). This harmonic dissonance is the exact opposite of our heart and arterial rhythms.

Recently I had my heart busted. He warned me that he would leave, but that was no consolation to my shattered heart.

During that time I was in the process of moving and spending quite a bit of time driving around in my car. With a freshly broken heart, I was crying a lot too. Like 20 times a day.

I’m a radio listener and most of the songs that would come on the air would make me cry harder. Sentimental love songs galore.

But, anytime a Led Zeppelin song would come on the radio, my tears would instantly dry up and I would physically feel much better.

Could there be an actual physical connection between Led Zeppelin’s anapestic beat and a shift in my heart?

Led Zeppelin’s music has been scientifically proven to affect a change in the heart.

The cathartic result of listening to Led Zeppelin during a fit of heartache is surprising. Give it a try.
