A Social Chameleon does it in Disguise.

I can play any card.

I’m a social chameleon.

A social chameleon is a person who . . .

Always strives to make a good impression.

A social chameleon tries:

”To be the right person in the right place at the right time.” ~ Mark Snyder

A socially chameleon carefully monitors the way others are reacting to them. They pay careful attention to social cues—mimicking the behavior of the host and guests.

The social chameleon is always changing, sometimes from one extreme to another. They are good at being the life of the party or being reserved and quiet. They are happy to conform or be a non-conformist, depending on the situation.

Traits of the social chameleon that I identify with:

The key to being a social chameleon is the ability to evolve easily—I am constantly changing. I can switch horses midstream or turn on a dime. My emotional type is good at resilience and adapting. I have fluid boundaries.

I have lots of interests. I’ve tried many things and can almost always find a point of connection with someone. I can wear many hats.

Social chameleons have a wide circle of friends. I have different friends for different activities. What does a social chameleon do when they’re by themselves? I am my own best friend.

I go out on a limb—I explore myself out of my comfort zone. I’m not afraid to try new things.

I am friendly and outgoing. Comfortable in social situations—I know myself and have good manners. I make the most of my surroundings.

I am a shiny mirror. I can draw people in with my eyes and reflect back their best traits.

I watch myself carefully and check my prejudices. I know that everyone possess gifts and one of my best traits is connecting with other’s gifts quickly. I draw out people’s good qualities. The key to this is directing the attention toward the other person and getting them talking. I love everyone.

“The way to love someone is to lightly run your finger over that person’s soul until you find a crack, and then gently pour your love into that crack.”

~ Keith Miller

I absolutely wear my heart on my sleeve. I give my heart away freely. All. The. Time.

I don’t take things personally. I’m not afraid to change my mind or admit that I’ve made a mistake. I don’t rock the boat.

I am like Teflon—labels will not stick to me. I have identified with being many things and been a member of many groups. I simply don’t let my package define who I am.

When I’m preparing to go to an event, I research the type of “crowd” that will be there and dress the part. I blend.

For many summers I had a job selling Hemp-I-Scream Sandwiches to concert goers at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. I’d dress the part, according the the band playing, and the customers were always convinced that I too was one of that band’s biggest fans. Many of the acts I’d never heard of or seen before. But I made a lot of friends and sold plenty of Hemp-I-Scream.

I am a slippery fish—I am hard to own because I’m not for sale. Trust me—many have tried.

Like any good chameleon, my favorite color changes all the time. Today it’s Navy Blue.

Are social chameleons old souls?

Definitely. A bright light shines from within—their hearts are composed of stardust.

Being a social chameleon is not as perfect as it sounds. One downside happens when a social chameleon fails—trying out and not being chosen for a sports team, job or other competitive activity can crush the morale of the social chameleon.

Social chameleons are good at jobs like professional actor, trial lawyer, successful salespeople, diplomats, politicians and world travelers.

Famous social chameleons: Woody Allen, Jean and Dean Ween aka: The Moist Boys and the Dos XX spokes person “The Most Interesting Man in the World.”

A social chameleon is a many layered creature. They are everywhere. A social chameleon may even be your best friend.
