Ironically, the new Religious Freedom Restoration Act passed in Indiana, has given ex co-stars of the comedy Scrubs, Zach Braff and Donald Faison, the perfect reason to resurrect their famous bromance.
Following the passing of the new bill, a Walkerton, Indiana pizza company, Memories Pizza, stated they would not cater any gay marriages.
According to ABC News Kevin O’Connor, owner of the pizzeria stated:
“That lifestyle is something they choose. I choose to be heterosexual,” pizzeria owner Kevin O’Conner said. He admitted he would serve a gay customer in-store, but wouldn’t cater for a gay wedding.
“They choose to be homosexual. Why should I be beat over the head to go along with something they choose?”
The stars responded by announcing their support of the LGBT community and pledging to make pizzas available for any and all gay weddings in Indiana, even if they have to make them themselves.
Braff posted to twitter:
If you really and truly want pizza for your gay wedding in Indiana… We will make it for you. @donald_faison
According to People Magazine the tweet has since been re-tweeted more than 8,000 times.
Braff and Faison are among several big celebrities to speak out against the new act including Miley Cyrus, Ashton Kutcher, George Takei and even Hilary Clinton who tweeted,
Sad this new Indiana law can happen in America today. We shouldn’t discriminate against ppl bc of who they love
As far as I know no one has taken Braff and Faison up on their offer but here’s hoping.
