This is For You. (Yes, you.)

Come closer, let’s chat, even for a brief, twinkling moment.

Maybe you’re having a beautiful day, beaming like the sun at noon, shooting a smile at every sad face you see.

Maybe your heart’s been shattered and you’re worried salty tears will never stop crashing on the raw, sandy shores of your cheeks.

Maybe you’re anxious as fuck, a toxic breeding ground for radioactive worries that threaten to burst wildly into the breeze like terrifying neon butterflies.

Maybe you’re head-over-heels in honey-scented love and your entire spirit’s blushing a deep, rosy maroon.

Maybe you’re so sick that the seconds seem to be stuck in place, frozen with slow-motion, time-stopping icicles.

Maybe you’re going about a busy workday, sipping an extra-large iced coffee, excited beyond words to get out of work at five.

This is for you.

This is for you to put in your heart’s pocket when your world is brilliant and when it seems unbearably bleak and bad.

Yes; this has always been for you.

Because I feel you.

And I know you can feel me, too.

We’re in this together; how often do we forget?

There’s this invisible gossamer thread that spins through our hearts.

It connects them together.

It connects us together.

Our souls are fused at the ripped seams with dewy webs so otherworldly and beautiful we’d weep for days if we ever saw them.

Yes, we’re in this together.

Take my hand, and I’ll take yours, for we’re all lost and confused, wandering far from home.

Here, let your tears splash into the bright blue rain pails of my heart.

You can catch my smiles in the feathery dreamcatchers of your glistening eyes.

I’ll show you my flaws and insecurities, my wounds and uncertainties, for there are so many.

Show me yours, too.

Show me everything you hide from the world.

Come even closer and we’ll walk through the scary pitch darkness together.

We’ll pour our pain like hot caramel onto the grassy emerald ground and make something beautiful out of it.

We’ll set fire to our fears and wake up long-sleeping dreams and forgotten desires and extra-plump passions.

We’ll hug each other so hard it creates an impenetrable barrier against tidal waves of acidic anxiety and doubt.

We’ll look deep into each other’s eyes and smile knowingly, shoulders kissing, souls touching.

How often do we forget?

We’re in this together.

Take my hand, and I’ll take yours.

We are not alone.

We’re all struggling and suffering, desperate for something.

But, we need each other.

So badly.
