I Remember You, but I Don’t Want You.

Today I found myself looking for you.

In the places I shouldn’t.
In the faces that surround me.
In the bodies that don’t know me.
In the shadows that engulf me.
In the names that forget me.
In the memories that fleet me.

Today I found myself looking for you.
In the kisses he placed on my cheek.
In the touch of his hands on my chest.
In the caresses he gentled me with, on my back.
In the gaze of his eyes on my body.
In the quiver of his lips, against my palms.

Today I found myself looking for you.
In the ripples of my coffee.
In the ashes of my cigarette.
In the folds of my blunt.
In the dust of my pills.
In the speckles of my frosted windows.

Today I found myself looking for you.
Within wilted rose petals.
Within decaying brown leather.
Within stains on the tiles.
Within faded scents.

But I don’t want to find you.
I don’t want to seek you.
I don’t want to love you.
