The Only Way to Find Peace in Unpleasant Situations.

sick unhappy unwell ill

Being human can be downright tricky at times. Unfortunately, unpleasant situations are just part of the deal.

You know, there’s the small, slightly aggravating experiences common to mankind. An enraged driver decides to cuss you out on the road. A boss at work treats you like you’re nothing but a sheep in a massive herd of little importance. A stranger is uncivil toward you for no apparent reason at all.

Or worse, someone close to you is angry. Maybe they weren’t entirely honest with you or they betrayed your trust. Or maybe you’re the one feeling irritated with others and you can’t quite figure out why.

Some of these circumstances can be resolved with an undemanding change in attitude. Some may take a little more work and self-reflection. Regardless, they all sting to a certain degree.

Sometimes they may even leave us with long-lasting emotional baggage and a newfound trouble of embracing forgiveness in all of its power.

I will be the first to blatantly confess that I’ve fallen victim to the everlasting battle to forgive. I’ve let the not-so-important things disturb me and let the larger ones latch on to my being for far too long. It led me to wonder if there was a different way to cope. A way for me to alter my perspective and close the door on frustration definitively.

I found that there is only one way to acquire infinite peace as you maneuver your way through life’s hurdles: to remember where you came from.

At your core, you are a spiritual being. You are full of love and light. This abundance of love and radiance of light is all you know. This holds true for each and every one of us.

But seeing as you are reading the words on this page, you are now currently having a human experience. And this is where it gets a bit more intricate.

From the moment you were born, you were separated from your truth as a spiritual being. You are new bait being pulled into a fresh world here on Earth.

The gravitational pull of human distraction becomes quite appealing and soon, it takes over. The distractions move you farther and farther away from your truth.

This detachment of truth causes an internal contradiction and suddenly, your behavior is coming from somewhere other than the truth of who you are at your core. The love and the light you hold within now seems harder to pinpoint than ever before.

Every one of us is encountering this identical experience and on one level or another, we are all just trying to find our way back to our truth. As long as we are able to stay aware of this separation, we can hold the compassion and tolerance we need to guide us through the tough times.

The angry driver? The inconsiderate boss? The loved one who violated your trust? They are all on the same journey as you. And they, too, are full of love and light.

The hate, the anger and the disrespect is not who they are and it’s certainly not who you are. These types of behavior are purely just an indication of distance. Distance from the love and the light we all began with.

With compassion and tolerance, we can remember the spiritual nature of where we came from and realize that this journey to get back to our truth is just that, a journey. A journey that takes time and patience.

Choose to not let the inconveniences of the human world knock you off your horse. Bad days, unruly emotions, and difficult challenges are unavoidable. But as long as we remember the nature of where we all came from, we will find peace in all of life’s obstacles.

“We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience.” ~ Pierre Teilhard de Chardin
