The Quote I want to Read on the Day it feels like the World is Ending.

The day is finally here.

The day a man with no humility and no humanity becomes the leader of the free world.

It’s a scary, sad, powerful kind of day.

It has the sadness of an ending and the anxiety of a beginning.

We don’t know what to think or how to feel.

We don’t know whether to fear or embrace the unknown, the future.

It feels like we are grasping for answers, for reasons, for each other.

But in the midst of all this fear and sadness and anxiety, we hear the battle cries.

We hear those who stay woke and those who are just now fighting to get there.

We hear those who use love and truth as a weapon.

We hear the bold voices and the quiet whispers of all those who have decided to turn rage and disappointment and discrimination into action, into hope.

I recently came across a quote from Warsan Shire—a quote that takes this hope and sprinkles in equal parts dreams and reality.

Because while this day will be tough, the many days ahead are the ones we must focus on. Because while we may feel like our world is ending, it’s actually just beginning.

Read these words; make them your battle cry.

Then close the door on today and let your voice be heard.

“the year of letting go, of understanding loss. grace. of the word ‘no’ and also being able to say ‘you are not kind.’ when the whole world couldn’t get out of bed. everyone i’ve met this year, says the same thing ‘you are so easy to be around, how do you do that?’ the year i broke open and dug out all the rot with own hands. the year i learnt small talk. and how to smile at strangers. the year i understood that i am my best when i reach out and ask ‘do you want to be my friend?’ the year of sugar, everywhere. softness. sweetness. honey honey. the year of being alone, and learning how much i like it. the year of hugging people i don’t know, because i want to know them. the year i made peace and love, right here.”
