In an Epic Comeback, Jon Stewart just told the Media What’s Up. {Video}

His appearance on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” last night made me realize just how much we need Jon Stewart.

And how much I miss him.

There’s just no one who does it like he does.

“Trump lies more in one press conference than CNN does in a year,” Stewart said, brandishing his trusty ballpoint pen. “And this is coming from a guy who, as you know, hates CNN.”

Stewart then addressed the media directly, with some real straight talk about Trump’s ongoing hostility and war on journalism. He went on to say, “It’s time to get your groove back, media. Because let’s face it: You kinda let yourself go for these last few years. Put on a few pundits, obsessing 24 hours a day, seven days a week about this one guy.”

“So I heard Donald Trump broke up with you,” joked Stewart, addressing the media. “Finally thought you’d met your match—a blabbermouth who’s as thin-skinned and narcissistic as you are. Well, now it’s over. Good riddance, I say! Kick him to the curb.”

In other words…bye, Felicia.

He’s brilliant. Like a girlfriend consoling a dear friend after a breakup, he laid it down honestly and true to form. Personally, I don’t know how I would’ve made it through the Bush/Cheney era of 2001 to 2008 without the dynamic duo of Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert airing back-to-back and weighing in on all things post-9/11. These guys kept me sane back then.

In a rare appearance, Stewart crashed Colbert’s show to have a chat with his old pal just when we needed it most. I’m a firm believer in finding the comedy in the most frightening and surreal situations, so this was a much needed dose of comedic medicine that no one could quite deliver like Stewart. If we can’t laugh at the insanity, then they win.

The way I see it, we can either laugh or we can brood over the current state of affairs. But neither way will change what’s happening, so why suffer over it? To me, that’s giving away our power.

So yeah, I will laugh in the face of this chaos as I do my part to show up and bring about change in the world.

I hope you will join me.
