No Ordinary Lover. {Poem}

Pick me wildflowers, lace them in my hair.

Unbutton me, slowly, serenade me with your fingertips.

Be no ordinary lover, take no path that has been set upon.

Take me through trails in prairie lands of golden wheat where the sun sets for days.

Kiss me not on my lips, but on my brow, my shoulder, my knee.

May your eyes follow the river of my every curve as you find its unique treasures.

Explore the places that have never been discovered. Bring them to life, a life even I know nothing about.

Take me on adventures where I’ve never been, with fireflies by my bed and scents of nature on my head.

Be the silk beneath my bare skin, sing me sweetly your song within.

Take me where the wild horses live, hold me there, as their running manes blow wind through my hair.

I want to feel life with you.

Earth me with your rooted presence and set me free with the wings I have grown in the absence of you.

Fly with me, climb with me, take chances with me, live wildly with me in the waves of the salty seas with no need to wash it off our skin.

Bathe in life with me. Get messy with me—I want to know you.

Let’s live in the vast space of total uncertainty.

Let’s hold loosely our fingers together as we journey through our souls, finding the endless depths of our being.

Apart, then together.

Yes, this.

Be no ordinary lover.
