Sometimes I Wake Up in a State of Amnesia {Poem}

Sometimes I wake up

In a state of amnesia

I forget the hurt of the world

Like I’ve had anesthesia

This moment is short

As short as it is sweet

And then I remember

With each passing heartbeat

The serenity prayer

I keep on my tongue

I look around at all of

The distress that’s begun

My problems are tiny

I want to help big

My ripple spreads wide

No need to learn trig

I’ll start w my family

My home is my base

Do a solid load of laundry

And teach my kids grace

Reality can be harsh

It’s hard to avoid

But it’s in adversity we show

Strength won’t be destroyed
