I was in my mid-20s and living in Brisbane, Australia, when it all unfolded.
Six months prior, I’d left New Zealand and a deeply unhealthy, codependent relationship to follow my desire for a better life. Australia fit the bill; it was warm, sunny, and the pay was better. But once again, I found myself in the depths of depression, lonely, homesick, overweight, and trying to disguise it all with alcohol.
I was so tired of this pattern, so exhausted by the burdensome, dense feelings of not enough-ness, anxiety, loneliness, and discomfort in my own skin.
That wasn’t the first time I’d had that realization, but this time was a little different. This time, I was slightly more aware of the pattern, the thoughts, and the feelings underpinning my experience. And, I was slightly more open to finding a solution.
It was another busy day in the office when a coworker asked if I’d go with him to the mall at lunchtime. As I waited outside the bank for him, I became aware of a bookshop next door. Outside was a table of for sale items, and suddenly all I could see was this one blue, hard-covered book.
It was almost as if the world stopped for a moment as I reached to pick it up. The title read: Feel It Real-A Guided Approach to Bringing the Law of Attraction into Your Life.
I was familiar with The Secret, and fortunately, it was priced at only five dollars, which seemed reasonable for someone with a scarcity mindset.
I went home that night, book in hand, to begin deepening my understanding of intentional manifesting using the Law of Attraction principles. The following day I implemented a new morning routine, which consisted of writing as many things as I could to be grateful for.
It was slow-going to start, but I began to gain momentum; each day, I was able to find more and more things to be grateful for. By night, I practiced the other invigorating games, which were primarily focused on how I desired my life to be and feel, releasing any pressure from the how or when.
This was a simple but radical shift in thinking. As a depressed person, I was consumed with how bad my reality was, which, of course, only manifested more thoughts and feelings of depression. Now, I’d begun manifesting happiness because I started focusing on happiness.
My neural pathways were being rewired day by day, and my body was downloading new cellular memory. Day by day, my vibrational frequency increased; I was becoming the person I needed to create the life I desired.
Within six months, I was happier, slimmer, making more money, living by the beach, and working from home. I’d won $5,000 and was planning a backpacking adventure around South East Asia. Shortly after, I went on to work on private super-yachts, traveling the world, making amazing memories, and earning lots of money.
The desires I’d been journaling about had become my reality, and, most importantly, I’d broken the spell of 13 long years of depression.
Like any soul here for big things, I still had some deep healing work to do, but by implementing the spiritual principals of the Law of Attraction (gratitude, desire, and faith in the divine cocreating process), I was able to break the spell of depression and ensure it would never haunt me again.
Not surprisingly, today, I am a spiritual empowerment coach for women. I empower other beautiful souls to implement spiritual laws into their lives and share my story of how I manifested my way out of depression.
