Unreciprocated Love {Poem}

There’s a blank space in my mind

Void in my heart

Where the words would have been

If there were love in my life

As the screws tightened

The words died

Unborn upon my soul

The universe closed in

To the small space

The chasm

Between you and me

As I tried

With bloody hands

To build bridges

And you laughed

At my wounds

Your hands holding matches

You pretended not to see

As you lit the fires

And watched me burn
