Creating in the Flow: How I Honor the Way Life Wants to Create Through Me

Present moment assessment

I notice any complaining or doubt in my thoughts  or words right away. I’m getting better at this (I usually only get one sentence in before I notice it). Then I get present, look around and let gratitude pour in. I find all the things to appreciate in the moment. Right now the sun is shining in my window, my house is warm and quiet, I have good coffee right next to me and I don’t have to work until 3 PM. From this restful place I can feel into and imagine the future I am creating.

The feelings that grow as you dream and imagine are the most powerful part of creating. You want to imagine all the details, not so that you can manifest them, but so that your feelings get bigger and deeper. The more you can feel it, see it, taste it, touch it and hear it, the closer it comes toward your reality. When I forget this and try to create out of rigidity, lack, fear or need, it doesn’t work. It doesn’t match what life wants to create through me.

Flowing through your day

Then you let go of your dreaming and move on with your day. All the while, being aware and open to signs that your creation is coming closer. This is the flow part. No personal agenda, no timetable, no deadlines and no goals. Just trusting that things will unfold in the right way and the right timing. So for me that means participating in the creation only in easy, effortless and joyful ways and practicing a lot of patience!

At the same time, through out the day, I am intentionally staying open to opportunities. I get present and curious with every email, meeting, conversation and activity. I connect with like-minded people on social media. I work on the parts of my business that I feel like working on. All the while having faith that things are unfolding as they should. I follow my interest. I move toward who and what I’m attracted to without an agenda, only curiosity.

Lessons for growth

As your day unfolds in this peaceful way you’re sure to come up against glitches, blocks and resistance. This is a natural part of the process, just like the rocks in a flowing river. These are your growth edges. Notice your feelings that come up from your body, your thoughts and your emotions about the so-called problem. You can stay in the flow and get curious about your reactions. Maybe you need to take time to explore them. What is the lesson in this situation? Or you can practice letting those thoughts and feelings pass through your body and mind. What can you do to take care of yourself at this time? These practices allow you to flow with whatever is present in each moment and learn and grow without judgement.

Intention and outcome

This whole process of creating in flow is intentional but not scripted, not set on a particular outcome.

My intention is to enjoy the process.

To grow from it

To know how I want to feel

To appreciate the synchronicities

To celebrate the wonder of it all

To remember that I am an integral part of it

To show up as my authentic self

To trust the process and keep going!
