“On days I could not move it was women who came to water my feet until I was strong enough to stand. It was women who nourished me back to life” ~ Rupi Kaur

Happy International Women’s Day to the women who make my world go round.
My earth-walking angels who make the worst feel survivable, and the best feel infinitely more bright and beautiful.
My absolute constants. When the waves get too high, your love is what anchors me.
Every year that we grow older, I realise more and more the depth of what it means to be shaped and surrounded by your strength and tenderness.
All of my best qualities have been learned from and through the countless things that I admire about you—the troves of your resilience that seem to never end.
If you could know yourselves through my eyes, you would bathe in an endless sea of self-love, with walls of worth so high they were unscalable.
You would never spend a moment in doubt.
As the brilliant Alok Vaid-Menon powerfully and poetically pens:
“Love is the theory. Friendship is the practice.”
Thank you for being the practice that teaches me time and time again what true love feels like—what it is made of.
Thank you for practising love with the pureness, respect, care, loyalty, generosity, and friendship that it deserves.
Thank you for the magic of your anchoring sisterhood.
Its grounding is what gives me the wings to fly; the courage to rise to the heights of our glass ceilings.
And when those wings feel clipped, you are the ones who nourish me back to life.
And I will spend a lifetime in your presence trying to do the same for you.
