Will Smith defines Love & How we get it Wrong in Relationships.

Will Smith: you know him from “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.”

You know him as the funny guy. But damn! He went deep with this.

Here are a few quotes that stuck out for me:

>> “You can’t make a person happy. You can make a person laugh…but whether a person is happy is deeply, totally, and utterly out of your control.”

He references J Krishnamurti and the “desire-pleasure paradigm.” Smith explains it as:

>> “This idea that we think of love as: if you meet my needs, then I love you. If you don’t, then I don’t. Love becomes transactional.”

>> “That is the insatiable nature of desire: trying to find somebody who fills our cup. I think that leads to anger and frustration and ultimately makes us break apart from people.”
