If I Could Paint You. {Poetry}

If I could paint you,
I’d paint the sky,
the rivers, the streams,
the waterfalls
Rushing
I’d paint dreams,
and spinning horsey carousels,
I’d paint the whole world
dotted with pools
of blue and green,
a whirling rush
and a stillness too.

If I could paint you
I’d paint a rocky trail
a steepness
an out of breath
Steadfastness
but I’d paint a moment of rest
Before more climbing.

If I could paint you
I’d paint the sun
A bright beaming light
Peeping
Seeping
Through rustling trees
Illuminating
The Dust
And
Hitting the water
Just right.

Yes, I’d paint the early morning, followed by the night.

If I could paint you
I’d paint
Clematis winding
Weigela bursting
Peonies weeping
I’d paint
All the vines in my valley
Creeping,
Alive,
Overgrown,
inside my wild bed.

If I could paint you, I wouldn’t.
I’d find the words instead.
