“Teyana Taylor is the first Black woman to be named Maxim’s ‘Sexiest Woman Alive.'”

What is Elephant about, folks ask me, regularly. I say—really, anything that can serve as a gateway into “the mindful life,” our slogan or motto since 2002 (we turn 19 in just a few weeks).

And so, sometimes, we’re about simple sexiness, photos in a tacky lad mag:

“Multi-talented actress, model, choreographer and singer-songwriter Teyana Taylor was named Maxim magazine’s “Sexiest Woman Alive”, becoming the first Black woman to be named No. 1 on the annual list.”

All Photos via Twitter and Maxim:

We don’t need a sexist lad mag to tell us that black Women are “now” beautiful.

Call this progress? I guess. Sure. Progress happens at every strata of society, or not—below are two related examples of, or not.

Sexist Maxim Photo? Hack it.
