Standing between holding on and letting go.
Savoring what we are as it exists now.
Resisting the inevitability of change.
Transformation in a new romance is scary.
You’re constantly letting go of the sweetness of new beginnings
and the daydream of the potential.
Trying to move freely without attachment—consciously.
Will it grow?
We can’t stay where we are for longer than the moment lasts.
I use my breath to anchor me to the present,
holding his head on my chest and my moving my fingers through his hair.
