And Then We Met

For an entire year I heard about her and how wonderful she was.

Every day I heard a few more stories about how funny she was and all the fabulous and cool things about her.

At first I was jealous I have to admit.

After sometime I was also curious.

Who was this fabulous women?

Finally on a Friday after work we met. My close gal pal arranged dinner at a local pub and I pushed myself to attend. I was introduced however, it did not sink in right away that it was” her”.

After a drink and settling in relaxing and listening to conversation I slowly began to join in the conversation and we engaged. She was talking about her latest invention and I began to share one of mine and the rest of the group disappeared.

The conversation was on fire.

I leaned in with curiosity and she did too.

While everyone made small talk we laughed sharing our innermost thoughts and creative pursuits.

Then she asked ” What is your Myers-Briggs personality?”

I paused and she said ” Let me guess?”

I did let her guess.

She whispered…

“INFP” and I gasped answering “yes’.

She smiled and said “me too”.

The INFP for those of you wondering is a personality type which stands for “Introverted,        Intuitive, Feeling and Perceiving.”

We are a rare bunch and we are “creatives”

What happens when you meet your personality twin?

You connect and understand each other on a soul level.

Suddenly I understood what my friend was gushing about for an entire year for I too fell head over heals. My heart was on fire and I felt and urge to write and create.

INFP’s all have common traits yet we are all unique.

One thing is certain if you meet another INFP rest assured you can be yourself completely and they will not judge.

The INFP wants to know you on a deep level.

We experience moments and feelings different than others. What sets us apart is is that we are free spirited and easy going.

These traits make us desire fluidity and flow.

Creatives at our very core we are always exploring how we can change the world. This includes advocating for the underdog and fighting for injustice. Living an authentic life is important to us as well as freedom to be who we are.

Like Thoreau so eloquently penned we strive to “suck the marrow from life” living a deliberate life. Most of us are true “romantics” nostalgic and empathetic.

That night while engaging I watched the man beside her and thought ” hope you are good to her she is a sensitive soul” of course I was projecting. INFP’s do tend to be sensitive although we might come across as strong. Our hearts once opened are very fragile.

Meeting another INFP is like magic.

As the night came to an end I was again awe struck for the sweetness of the moment and the synergy. I said my goodbyes and headed out feeling a wave of love

I smiled and felt gratitude.

I had a chuckle thinking my friend had found another friend just like me. In turn I found a kindred spirit.
