Update on Redford.

Remember when Redford was painted up around Boulder?

Red is still not doing too well. Michelle and I go to the doggycardiologist tomorrow morning. Wish him luck and besos!

Update: today was rough, honestly. We thought we were going to be bidding good bye and farewell for awhile there. Some tears. But so far, surprising even the cardiologist (who was not optimistic, seeing the shape he’s in), he’s responded to the medication super well and quickly.

Background: pretty serious last 3 months, barely moving, not able to walk more than 20 feet last two weeks without collapsing. Ever since the surgery he hasn’t been the same. May have had a stroke or seizure or two. The doctor was pretty certain this was it—quality of life was over—but the medication they just put him on so far is working wonders. So far being a few hours now.

We were at the cardiologist half of the day. He reacted so well to the medicine he surprised the doctor. Honestly the cardiologist was pretty horrified by the state he is in. But he rebounded so fast she said she hadn’t seen it before. So far so good, he went for some long (a block, long for him lately) walks and smelled things and wanted to say hi to dogs…old (young) Redford was back!

From a reader friend.

“Read to him, Way.”

“But especially he loved to run in the dim twilight of the summer midnights, listening to the subdued and sleepy murmurs of the forest, reading signs and sounds as a man may read a book, and seeking for the mysterious something that called — called, waking or sleeping, at all times, for him to come.”
~ Jack London, The Call of the Wild
