Every so often

Photo by Oleksandr Pidvalnyi on Pexels.

Every so often

I find myself in this place again

Like I was today

And Make my way to this spot

in silence of thought

While people scurry

Finding their way to dinner

Or A show

Their hotels

Or Calling out for their children

With White noise of the city everywhere

I close my eyes

and allow myself to drift back

Into the night we stood

on that corner

Smiling

your hand squeezing mine

As we crossed the street

bellies filled with delicious food

And we stood in the glow

Of the perfectly pink tree

And I wished

And I smiled

I let the story unfold

For It feels like only a dream now

Yet every time

It Warms me still

And I smile

And I wish

And I slowly walk away

as the glow of the tree

fades back

into the night
