How You Slam the Door on Magic Every Day.

I am sure you have noticed, how much, we as humans have this relentless need to control every aspect of our lives. Sure, some people “go with the flow,” more often than others, but it is generally still always within the realms of what feels safe and familiar. Our humanness must know and understand. Our minds must cement the parameters, rules, and boundaries, and keep them in sight at all times.

So we create patterns, from which we function, day to day and week to week, continually perpetuating the same routines, the same habits and movements, and further imprinting the “rules” of our lives, like a permanent tattoo, inked into our very being. Our patterns become so much a part of us, so familiar, as to become unconscious and unnoticeable. We never even question, let alone challenge them.

Every single day, we climb blindly upon the same ride and embark on the same journey. Every morning, we choose the same welcoming and familiar seat, the one with our own groove shaped in, from years of choosing the same. We select the familiar comfort. The one we know does not get wet on the way around, does not get jolted or shaken, the smoothest and easiest ride. Our hands automatically reach out for the handlebars, having become so numb to them from constant touch, that we no longer startle at the smooth coolness. We no longer even brace for take-off, as we are so accustomed to the feel of it. It has become our known.

This is living the known.

Now imagine, you birth an inspired, intuitive idea. An urge to simply go for it.
You completely embrace the spontaneity, the rush, the surrender to the moment.
You live only in the present freedom that you crave in your body, in your soul. Your heart excites at the magic that sparks from limitlessness and possibility.
Imagine.
Simply allowing a day to unfold.
Free of assumptions.
Free of time constraints.
Free of to-do lists, jobs and chores.
Revelling and relishing.
Full body contentment and bliss.
Entranced and fascinated.
Being in the wonder of a day, a moment, lived in surrender, awe, and joy.
With newborn eyes,
fresh ears, hearing for the first time.
Untainted.
Unassuming.
Uncontrolled.
Unknown.
The word surrender lends itself to a memory of a child’s pirate movie, in which the good guys throw their hands in the air, along with their white flag, begging for mercy, giving up. They’ve been made powerless, they have lost, been conquered. When someone says “I surrender,” it implies that you have won and I have lost. And no one likes to lose
But these are surface-level beliefs and societal structures monetized, capitalized and made into Disney magic. Delving deeper, without the societal constructs, the word lends itself to a sense of allowing and letting go. It is a surrender of a tight grip on the past, the grip on old, outdated ways of thinking, old beliefs, and a choice to move from control to release. From “must be,” to just, be.
Instinctively it feels like a relaxing into, and moving into ease and flow. To surrender feels like a knowing. A knowing of the growth that will take place, the actions that will be wholeheartedly taken, the choices made daily and consistently, and the visible and invisible work that will be done to expand and create a personal world of abundance and bliss.
To surrender does not in fact mean a loss of power. It lends to the exact opposite. It is a willing allowance, a deep trust, a choice that in fact leads to adherence to personal power. In surrender, you ultimately choose to see infinite possibility without the need for strict control. Surrender is the knowledge, the settling into and acceptance of who you actually are. Of acceptance of yourself as the divine, creative soul, with innate worth, potential, love, light, connection and a uniquely gifted purpose.
To embrace surrender is to become aware, awake and conscious of our connection and inclusion in everything through all time and space, every possibility, every potential, alignment with our true nature, our true heart, our soul calling, and the desire and ability to create exactly what we would dearly love.
Few people manage to see past the facade we have been led to believe. Believing we are merely physical humans, with thoughts and feelings to guide us through this sad, challenging, single life. Is it any wonder we create patterns to survive, from a space of desperately needing consistency, guidance and help to get through?
The beauty of surrender lies in its ability to lead us from a place of tight control, confusion, chaos and overwhelm, to a place of freedom, awe, wonder and joy. A place of magical creation. A place where we can fling open the door of possibility, and step into and embody the magic of deep purpose, freedom and boundless joy.
