Noah Lennox, the Lisbon-based drummer/vocalist of Animal Collective, has crafted a laptop Pet Sounds [the Beach Boys ca-lassic] anchored by addictive Brian Wilsonian vocal melody. It’s frenetic yet mellow. Created primarily on his computer, it’s a patchwork of layered vocals, looped samples, various percussion (sleigh bells?) and random city life recordings. Somehow it never seems redundant or dissonant; instead it spins out of the speakers, warm and comforting like tee shirts fresh out of the dryer.
