Gender-Flipping!
Two Australian men have done a brilliant parody of a Miranda Kerr GQ photoshoot.
Christiaan Van Vuuren and Nick Boshier play two characters called the Bondi Hipsters, Adrian Archer and Dom Nader. Dom features in the photo shoot, shot by Adrian which matches outfit for outfit, shot for shot with that of Miranda’s.
Why does it always look so silly to see a man posing in the same way we ask women to?
Christiaan and Nick have been making weekly YouTube episodes of the Bondi Hipsters every week this year—and interest is beginning to heat up in one they’re offering. They’ve definitely got an eye for detail.
When elephant journal asked them about this fashion shoot, here’s what they responded—in character of course, as Adrian Archer and Dom Nader:
“We thought it would be interesting to re-shoot Miranda Kerr’s recent UK GQ shoot, using a man as the subject. We also wanted to re-quote some of the things that she said in her GQ interview – but coming from the perspective of a male… As you can see, the shoot comes off very differently… It’s an interesting case for either the over-sexualisation of the female body in the high fashion world, or perhaps the under-sexualisation of the male body in the high fashion world?! Depending on how you look at it… But either way, as soon as you put a man in there, and have a man talking about same sex curiosity and masturbation on public transport it’s an entirely different thing that we aren’t used to seeing in the media… What can I say, sorry for turning the whole fashion industry on it’s head?”

“I’ve been in a few baked beans commercials and stuff like that, but this is the first proper fashion shoot I’ve ever done… I felt a bit uncomfortable answering those questions—I mean. Why do people care about where I wank?”
~ Dom Nader
From the original GQ article:
It’s a big step forward for the Bondi Hipsters—two eco-concious, party animal hipsters from Bondi (Sydney, Australia), who are desperate to get their fashion brand off the ground.
Adrian is a rich boy from the Eastern Suburbs, who has been raised in private schools and spoon fed his whole life. His best friend Dom is a well-travelled young lad from the suburbs of Melbourne who has to work three jobs just to cover his rent. Together they are hoping to take the Australian fashion scene by storm.
These photos might just have done that:
And Dom mimicking the quotes that Miranda had in her article:
