Above all else in the world, most parents want happy kids.
It’s not easy being a parent and sometimes (well, more than sometimes!) we have to do things that make our kids unhappy (i.e., limiting screen time and junk food; scolding them for bad manners; discouraging them from hanging out with trouble-makers). But that’s all normal parenting stuff.
What makes happy kids? It’s more than just buying them a dog who can play fetch with itself and it’s certainly not about giving in to every whim.
