How Saving Others Saves Ourselves.

Have you seen the video below of two men saving entangled swans?

When I posted this to my Facebook page, I was amazed at how many people responded. People who rarely comment made it a point to like the post or respond to it.

That sort of engagement made me wonder what it was about the post that motivated them to respond. Are people just softies when it comes to swans? Perhaps it touched upon that soft spot we all have for those in distress, whether friend or feathered friend.

As I thought more deeply about it, I realized that seeing acts of heroism such as this stirs that part of ourselves that we don’t often get to experience directly. They remind us of our own compassion and goodness.

Have a look, and be glad. It is a kind world after all!
