Music is healing, music is beautiful, music is motivating – the list goes on. Many people have fond memories of being in the car with their parents listening to various types of music – life was so simple then as a passenger. As adults, listening to these same songs can bring a sense of nostalgia, of peace.
While there are bumps and bruises experienced by everyone along this journey called life, music is always a steadfast presence. In fact, music can have the most impact when people are going through the hardest times in their lives. It inspires individuals to keep moving when they feel completely stuck or lost.
While there are so many genres of music to choose from, instrumental/relaxation music is a top pick for many. In this chaotic world, it’s a challenge to calm one’s overthinking, and to focus. When someone becomes a parent, this overthinking only increases, and the brain seems to be on constant overdrive. Listening to music is a way for people to slow down, breathe and release some of the tension and stress in their lives.
It seems almost ironic that a song without any words, can speak more deeply than those with words. Perhaps, it’s because there is an unspoken message that goes beyond words, that touches the heart and soul. While music cannot take away all of life’s sorrows, it can be therapeutic for those who need a way of expressing their emotions that run deep.
Music is powerful.
