108 Words for the Moms who Don’t Feel Appreciated.

My mum and I had a strained relationship as I was growing up.

After many years, and many dips and tides, we have started to learn to get to know and understand each other. She has always done everything for us to the best of her ability.

I wrote this poem to acknowledge everything that she has done for us, and to let her know that our lives were, and still are, filled with much love, gratitude, and appreciation, as without her “best,” we wouldn’t be the individuals we are today.

Mother Dearest

To all the mothers, we adore you.

To all the mothers, we applaud you.

From all the sons and daughters

standing right here before you.

Cooking, cleaning, ironing—respect.

You show up each day to give us your best.

Unconditional love, plus boundless advice,

positive thinking alleviates the strife.

A mother’s language is a universal one:

to nourish, encourage and help everyone

with listening ears, life lessons you teach,

Some things in this life can be achieved.

Dear Mother, we don’t always give you your due;

plenty appreciations lined up just for you.

Fantastic you are in your daily quest,

being the wonderful mum we all know best.

~
