11 Tina Turner Quotes for How to Wear your Hair on Election Day.

Obviously, a George Washington pull-back with a little ribbon is a great option—especially if you think it might become a “pulling your hair out” kind of day.

Mousséd straight up and around the head works as a Cher or Tina Turner celebratory style for the election partier in you. This is terrific in Washington and Oregon, where rain is expected, since lots of product on your strands will help you last through the day into the night.

Personally, I think dying my hair red, white, and blue is just a little high-vibration for what we are all going through this week.

Also, I suspect these would be the same people whose sewing machines I hear whizzing as they sew black armbands to wear in case their candidate loses. Guys, guys…

Though she’s probably not gonna help you with your style, the Queen of Rock and Roll—Tina Turner—does have an answer, after all, for “What’s Love Got to Do with It?”

Standing in line to vote (with your scalp tingling), get good with God thanks to Tina:

“I want to tell people how to live spiritually. After you’ve bought all your houses and your clothes, you want something bigger.”

“You take your problems to a god, but what you really need is for the god to take you to the inside of you.”

“My legacy is that I stayed on course…from the beginning to the end because I believed in something inside of me.”

“I heard stories from my mother’s mother, who was an American Indian. She was spiritual, although she did not go to church, but she had the hum. She used to tell me stories of the rivers.”

“I’m not wise, but the beginning of wisdom is there; it’s like relaxing into—and an acceptance of—things.”

“For me the goddess is the female of God. She is powerful if different.”

“I believe we have a higher level of mentality within us, but we have to use the power in the right way.”

“People think my life has been tough, but I think it has been a wonderful journey. The older you get, the more you realize it’s not what happens, but how you deal with it.”

“I never close a door on any other religion. Most of the time, some part of it makes sense to me. I don’t believe everyone has to chant just because I chant. I believe all religion is about touching something inside of yourself.”

“Sometimes you’ve got to let everything go—purge yourself. If you are unhappy with anything…whatever is bringing you down, get rid of it. Because you’ll find that when you’re free, your true creativity, your true self comes out.”

From an interview with Tina by the American Haiku teacher Clark Strand:

“Whenever I feel the shadows creeping in, I increase the light however I can. Exercising, doing yoga, meditating, reading, chanting, going for a stroll, spending time with friends or family. Even just taking a nap can work wonders. But it’s also possible to transform those feelings, to ‘change poison into medicine,’ as Nichiren called it.”

Check out the Queen’s recordings of “Great Spirits” and “Peace Mantra”.

Maybe I’ll just wash my face, dress in style, and take in these soothing tunes as I begin to radiate compassion for myself and all these people, with their bad hair day, who are voting for the other candidate.
