Move over the business quarter – the yogis (a person who is proficient in yoga) are in town

Inspire brought us their Wellness Under the Gate socially distancing event, this January. The theme was ~ “Follow your inspiration. What would you do if you were not afraid?”

Inspire is a yoga, pilates, and fitness studio – with two locations across Dubai – one in Al Manara and the other in DIFC. It was founded by Elisa (Filipino) and John Lossifidis (Australian) who are all about ~ “cultivating balance”, into our lives. Their motto being, “With Elisa as the heart and John as the head – yin and yang, one might say! – a lifelong passion for balanced living is why they inspire.”

Neha Duseja

What a way to spend a Saturday afternoon – downtown under the Gate Building in DIFC, Dubai. Wellness Under the Gate was a 75-minute, signature Vinyasa (linking movement with breath) class, led by Neha Duseja.

Neha is a yoga teacher and Lululemon ambassador. Already attended several of her classes – she pushes you to your limits – whilst giving you the compassion needed throughout the session. Her classes are strong, yet hold space for the yin, feminine you!

Brené Brown

Given headphones for the flow and meditation – we were talked through poses from Neha – with beautiful music to compliment. Feeling the energy and love from the yogis, we flowed into the sunset. She quoted influential people and books throughout and one was from Brené – one of my favorite authors.

Here is a quote from Brené Brown, which I feel deeply inspired from ~ “Vulnerability is the birthplace of innovation, creativity, and change.”

Vulnerability

Taken from this it seemed the aim of the event was to be as vulnerable as possible and to find the time and space to go inwards. As we are amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, it can be difficult to allow ourselves to feel what is beneath the layers of our skin, what we portray to the world, and how we are actually feeling. “How are you really?” is one of those questions that can fuel a fire inside our hearts at present. We’re at the height of anxiety-ridden emotions and it was time to move it out.

Neha thrown us right in, head-first (or should I say heart first) and we did many opener exercises. The yoga asanas (poses) were fluid and everyone was there to create a little more space within our minds, hearts, bodies, and souls. Community lay at the forefront of this practice and it was time to share like never before.

We only have one life

Being more grateful than ever – we are in a place like Dubai where we still have the opportunity to take part in such wellbeing practices – as the world is slowly closing. Yoga and meditation focus on being raw, open, and willing to fall – only so we will get back up stronger.

I leave you with one final point – will you use Covid-19 to your advantage and how brave are you to delve into your vulnerabilities and drop fear we all carry around with us? If the pandemic has taught us anything – it has unveiled how we only have one life and now is the time to go after exactly what we want.
