Desert dunes
What a dreamy way to bring in the first full moon of 2021 – in Dubai’s desert – under the stars and after a whole evening of movement, healing, and manifesting. The experience was led by Diggy Singh (Tattva Yoga) from Jodhpur, India – where we had a Hatha (a type of yoga) session, was guided by sound healing, watched the fire dancing, and meditated through pranayama (control of breath).
Diggy has a Masters in Physical Education and Sports Medicine / Management, and Nutrition and Dietetics. Teaching yoga wasn’t something that was taught to him – it was already in him, a way of life. With the blend from his academic education – he morphed into the spiritual warrior he is today.
It’s a camels life
Whilst driving into the desert we stopped and jumped out of the four-by-four to see the herd of camels passing. This was the start of what was a magical or magickal (action or effort undertaken to effect personal transformation or external change) night. Some so friendly and others not so – we had photographs and taken selfies with the giant furry creatures. I swear some were loving the attention.
Spiritual music time
Moving into the evening, it was time for some tunes. For anyone who knows me – well you don’t yet but we are getting to know each other slowly – they know how much I am a music addict.
When we sat around the campfire – we enjoyed the sounds of Craig Pruess, Ananda, and Merkaba. Think of floating away inside the spiritual sounds of the galactic desert and disappearing into the universe vibes.
Another favorite of mine is sound healing – if you haven’t tried you must – it’s rinsing out of unwanted energy in your body and a way of aligning your entire field. The aim is to balance out our chakras (energy points in the body), which most of us are out of poise with. It’s a time to immerse yourself in the instruments, chants, and voices you will hear – making you go into a hypnotic trance.
On that note, Diggy’s friend played the handpan (drum). This is a beautiful, trippy vibration, and now catching on in many DJs sets. Check out Gioli and Assia for their take on this majestic drum. Each time I fall in love with it – it’s heaven – or what I imagine heaven to sound like.
Pachamama
What a powerful surge of energy we all felt after our beautiful evening and vegetarian feast. We stayed up all night, under the clear sky, and felt the energetic charge from the full moon.
Pachamama (earth mother) was in full bloom and we even got to see the moon rise. It was the same way the sun would rise, above the dunes, and it floated into the night’s sky. Being blown away was an understatement. Some memories you will carry with you for a lifetime!
All we want is a tribe
I bring my point again to the community. I feel it’s what I’m writing a lot about lately, during this absolutely crazy time we are living. One to go down in history and tell generations about in years to come.
At the front of this desert experience was the feeling of having an involvement, sharing stories, finding our tribe, and knowing we are not so different from each other. No matter where you are from in the world, wherever you have grown up, and the differences we think we have to each other – we have many similarities. Community is what brings us together and having a shared understanding as human beings.
If you’re wanting an evening, with like-minded individuals, moving your heart, mind, body, and soul – then you’re in the right place. This will be a regular occurrence in the UAE, so reach out to Diggy Singh (Tattva Yoga) – you will be in for a re-treat.
