Snarling, disagreeable, bristling don’t touch me…
But what’s underneath? What if we hold still long enough; standing, perhaps sideways so as not to confront. and just wait…is there a softening? Is that better?
Has all this rushing about been to merely keep the soft, tender center protected? Is the busyness a front, an armor? Yeah… breathe… there it is… the crack, the chink in the armor, maybe eyes welling up a bit?
Its ok… nothing to fix, nothing to do right now… another breath and we get a little softer, maybe even a bit curious now?
Coming out of the shadows (or the underbrush) the soul is indeed shy as Parker Palmer once said. We all want to be seen and heard. This is part of the inter-connectedness of the human condition…
